Consider the fate of the 2003 EL61, a world only a bit smaller than Pluto. Nicknamed 'Santa' for its late December discovery, EL61 orbits within and outside Pluto's orbit, about 4 billion miles from the sun (where the Earth orbits about 93 million miles from the sun on a much more circular path.)
